Corning is one of the world's leading materials innovators. For more than 160 years, Corning has applied its unparalleled expertise in glass and ceramic science and physical optics to develop products that have created new industries and transformed our lives.
Corning's success is based on sustained investment in R&D, a unique combination of materials and process innovations, and close collaboration with our customers to solve their technological challenges Corning's businesses and target markets are constantly evolving.
Today, Corning's products are applied to a variety of industries, such as consumer electronics, telecommunications, transportation and life sciences. Examples of products are: -Glass for solid and interactive displays of mobile phones or tablets - Special glass for flat screens - Fibre optics, wireless technologies and other connectivity solutions for high-speed communication networks - Reliable products that accelerate the discovery and manufacture of new medicines - Ceramics for car and truck emission control
CORNING participates in prospective projects around the concepts of the "habitat/town of the future" which could enable the Group to participate in the development of innovative materials, products or processes making it possible to improve the quality of the environment (inside and outside homes), connectivity (within a habitat and/or the connected city), interactivity (screens, mirrors, interactive surfaces) and/or to share our expertise in these fields to help solve these complex problems.
Optimised Management: Urban Proteins, from natural to urban systems.
We struggle to accommodate pedestrians, bicycles, buses and cars in the small space of our cities. Yet natural systems can support densities of elements largely equivalent to those of our largest megacities, in an often infinitesimally small space, and with perfect control of their mobility. They are even capable, under the effect of disturbances such as internal (genetic mutations) or environmental changes, of adapting to maintain the mobility associated with a function. Their secret is the optimised management of shapes and arrangements of shapes in space to create customised empty spaces and thus supervise the desired mobility.
Can we, like natural systems, modify the shape of our buildings and their arrangement in urban space to have better control over mobility? To answer this question, two models of bio-inspired networks: a transport network and a building network.
Aryballe combines biochemical sensors, advanced optics, and machine learning in a single objective solution to collect, display and analyze odor data so companies can make better decisions.our digital nose relies on biosensors selected by our R&D team to mimick at best human olfaction. Digital olfaction made by Aryballe is a combination of biotech, nanosciences, IT and cognitive sciences.
Similar to our sense of smell, digital olfaction mimics the process by which our brains identify and differentiate between odors by capturing odor signatures for display and analysis via software solutions.
Cearitis provides Biocontrol to protect crops from their harmful effects. pests. We are mainly interested in Diptera (flies) that threaten fruit and vegetable crops every year.
Our first mission: to fight against olive fly, Bactrocera Oleae, the main pest in the olive sector.
Cearitis protects your crops
The company Cearitis offers an innovative technology to control agricultural pests without the use of pesticides. The control strategy is based on two principles: chemical ecology of the pest and a system called push-pull ".
Chemical ecology is a science specialising in the study of interactions between organisms and their physico-chemical environment. These attractive or repulsive interactions govern, among other things, the behaviour of ovipositors and female insects. Cearitis integrates the chemical mediators in a repellent system (push) coupled with a attractive fixed trap (pull) to effectively control insect pests of field crops, trees and horticultural crops.
Our first objective is to control the olive fly, Bactrocera Oleaethe main pest of the olive tree.
Cearitis aims to control pests in an ecologically responsible manner and without the use of chemicals.
The project puts this into practice and applies Cearitis' innovative technology to control the olive fly, Bactrocera Oleae. The olive fly is the most important pest of the olive tree. Its geographical location is not limited to our national territory but extends over all continents of the world. By laying its eggs in the olives, Bactrocera Oleae alters the organoleptic properties of the olive fruit and causes, between 5 and 30% of crop loss each year.
We design tailored and competitive environmental technologies, starting with the development of an innovative soil remediation solution: mycoremediation. We provide an ecological solution for the remediation of contaminated industrial soils. Providing an alternative to physical, chemical and thermal soil treatments, our technology broadens the scope and efficacy of existing bioremediation solutions to the treatment of the most recalcitrant pollutants. As biomimicry professionals, we raise awareness about nature-based innovations to inspire, guide and help organizations achieve their strategic sustainability innovation goals.
WHAT WE OFFER
BIOREMEDIATION SERVICES : Personalized solutions for the soil treatment of recalcitrant contaminants and for other waste streams.
BIOMIMICRY CONSULTING: Sustainability awareness and innovation guidance through the biomimetic lense.
OUR VALUES & OUR DRIVERS
We are convinced that life on earth is the greatest possible source of inspiration and an infinite library of smart solutions. Our ambition is to contribute to solving current environmental and societal challenges by developing bio-inspired restorative innovations.
