Jérôme PERRIN - SPEAKER 2019

Jérôme Perrin is engineer from the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris (X74, 1977), doctor in physics (PhD + professor accreditation) from the University of Paris Denis Diderot (1983). Originally researcher of the CNRS (French Scientific National Research Center) in plasma physics and chemistry, he joined the Balzers & Leybold group - now Oerlikon - in 1997 as R&D director on plasma reactors for flat panel display and solar panel manufacturing. In 2001 he became R&D program director in Air Liquide, particularly on hydrogen and fuel cells. Then in 2007 he joined Renault as VP director of advanced engineering projects for the reduction of energy consumption and environmental impact of vehicles, towards the new electric mobility. In June 2012 he was appointed director & general manager of the VEDECOM Institute for carbon-free electric, automated and connected vehicles and eco-mobility. Since July 2014 he has been VP Scientific Director in Renault. He is also bachelor in theology from the Catholic Institute of Paris (2013) and member of the CERNA (Research Ethics Board of Allistene, the Digital Sciences and Technologies Alliance) since 2018.

He was first in charge of research and then director of research at the CNRS in plasma physics and chemistry. In 1997, he joined the Balzers & Leybold group - now Oerlikon - as director of R&D on plasma reactors for the production of flat screens and photovoltaic panels. In 2001 he became director of R&D programmes at Air Liquide, in particular on hydrogen and fuel cells. Then in 2007 he joined Renault as director of advanced projects for the reduction of energy consumption and environmental impact of vehicles, towards the new electric mobility. In June 2012 he was appointed Director General of the VEDECOM Institute for the decarbonised electric, autonomous and communicating vehicle and its mobility. Since July 2014 he has been Scientific Director at Renault. He is also a canonical bachelor in theology from the Institut Catholique de Paris (2013) and a member of CERNA (Commission on Research Ethics in Digital Technologies of Allistène) since 2018.


Jérôme Perrin will speak at the first Biomim'expo day on 11 September 2019 at the Hôtel de Ville de Paris on the theme: "prospective vision of bio-inspired urban mobility by 2050".
