Stéphane Viollet, Director of Research at the CNRS, 47 years old, is head of the Biorobotics team and Deputy Director of the Institute of Movement Sciences in Marseille (CNRS/Aix-Marseille University).
His scientific interests include the study of sensory-motor reflexes in flies, bio-inspired optical sensors and insect-inspired robot control strategies. He participated in the development of the first artificial compound eye inspired by the Drosophila eye (European CurvACE project).
He is the author of more than 60 publications, 8 patents and was co-winner of the La Recherche journal prize in 2005.
