Jacques Rougerie, a visionary architect born in 1945, pursues his two passions, the Sea and architecture. He bases his research and the structures he builds on the principle of biomimicry, whilst taking sustainable development into account. Jacques Rougerie has built underwater habitats, laboratories, marine research centers, vessels with see-through hulls, subaquatic museums. He has designed underwater villages and structures to raise awareness on the beauty of the sea and its fundamental role in the great history of humanity.
He was elected in 2008 at the Institut de France - Academy of Fine Arts.
His latest marine project, SeaOrbiter, is a synthesis of more than 30 years of innovative research in marine and subsea architecture. Inspired by the imaginary work of Jules Verne, he has adopted his motto:
- "Anything one man can imagine, other men can make real.
THE COMMITMENT OF JACQUES ROUGERIE AND THE FOUNDATION
"Throughout my life I gave birth to my dreams thanks to encounters with men who helped me make them come true. Without their support, many of my projects would not have been possible. Today, it is my duty to help new generations so they can benefit from the support they need in order to build the future. It is my commitment and that of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation... As it is from space and the ocean that will emerge our civilisation's destiny "

THE COMMITMENT OF JACQUES ROUGERIE AND THE FOUNDATION
"Throughout my life, I have given shape to my dreams and made them come true thanks to meetings with people who believed in my vision of a forward-looking architecture and helped me to implement it. Without their support, many of my projects would not have been possible. Today, it is my duty to help the new generations, to give them in turn the support they need to build the future. This is my commitment and that of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation dedicated to space and the sea... For it is from space and the ocean that the destiny of future civilisations will be born.
