My eye, this super camera

Our eye, your eye, is no ordinary camera, it's a motion detector!

Far more sophisticated and 'intelligent' than any of the cameras you're reading this with in your pocket or in front of you!

Remember that Nature (and we are Nature) is "smart"; that it's "tiring" to produce, store and consume energy; and that we need to be alert, hyper-vigilant, on the lookout, to stay alive, to protect ourselves, to hunt, to feed ourselves...

-> Don't bother filming what you don't need to! Our retina records background images and only "updates" them if necessary.

-> Result? This means less fatigue, fewer resources consumed, only useful data processed, better visibility (better detection) of what's moving (= what's useful).

-> A demo? You do it every day and hundreds of times a day! When you're sitting quietly and a spider or insect crawls across the wall or the floor ... don't you jump? don't you turn your head? 😉 / when you stare at the ground in the forest, don't you see those ants or little beetles wandering around when you had almost no chance of seeing them motionless? / when you wait at the red fur, do you really need to stare at the pole to know that it has turned green? or are you "warned" even without looking at it? / when you look at the sea and a humpback whale pops up (okay it doesn't happen every day), don't you turn your head? aren't you alerted? ... and amazed?

-> Prophesee innovation :

Prophesee is the inventor of the world's most advanced neuromorphic vision systems. Its sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms, protected by 51 patents, are opening up a new era in computer vision by taking their inspiration from the way the eye and brain work and their ability to perceive events.

The first versions of these bio-inspired sensors were used in medical devices designed to restore sight to the blind, but there are many other applications, from retinal prostheses to driver assistance systems, smartphones and eye tracking in VR headsets. This so-called "neuromorphic" imaging technology enables the acquisition of more dynamic information, sensitive to change, from what are known as asynchronous sensors.

Our sensor works like an artificial retina, with autonomous pixels that react to milliseconds independently of each other." explains Luca Verre, CEO and founder. " It captures and transmits only changes in events and not the whole scene, as traditional image sensors do.. "

The process significantly reduces the amount of data generated in the event of redundant events, the data rate required to transmit content and energy consumption.

Prophesse is spearheading a new generation of French bio-inspired start-ups, what we can now call the "French Biomim Deeptech" ...

For the first time, in 2023, the specialist consultancy NewCorp Conseil has carried out a major survey of financial information to produce a first-ever assessment of the fund-raising 'market' for biomimicry statups.

This first cohort of innovative French companies has raised over half a billion euros in 10 years.

This report is also a CALL TO ACTION to launch Biomim'Invest and better identify, evaluate and develop this new generation of companies, researchers and entrepreneurs who draw their inspiration from living matter to innovate and propose new solutions with impact.

The project and the Call to action are available here : https://newcorpconseil.com/biomiminvest/

The report to leaf through online: https://online.fliphtml5.com/fuklu/rmha/#p=1

The key players in this forward-looking ecosystem come together at the major annual Biomim'expo event. The next edition will take place at the Parc Floral de Paris on 11 and 12 JUNE 2024.

On the trail of Life, Nature has not finished inspiring us for the future!
