MICHEL VEUNAC

Married, with two children and three granddaughters, Michel Veunac is a psychosociologist specialising in communication, social engineering, urban ecology, management and the sociology of organisations.

Knight of the Legion of Honour and Knight in the National Order of Merit. He entered politics in 1989 alongside Brice Lalonde at the creation of Génération Ecologie, joined François Bayrou at the UDF in 1995 and contributed to the creation of the Mouvement Démocrate (Modem) of which he is still a member.

Serving the City

  • From 1991 à 1995a municipal councillor in charge of the City's communication policy and the environment.

  • From 1995 à 2001He was a delegate to the Communauté d'Agglomération. He participated in the creation of the Agency for New Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC), of which he was the first President.
  • From 2001 à 2008He is Vice President of the Urban Community in charge of Urban Planning and the Environment. He directed the work of the Charter for the Environment and Sustainable Development of the agglomeration. At the same time, he developed the Atlantic and Pyrenees Urban Planning Agency (AUDAP), of which he was President until 2008.
  •  From 2008 à 2014Vice-President of the Basque Coast - Adour Agglomeration Community, in charge of Climate-Energy and Public Transport.
  •  11th Vice-President of the Pays Basque Agglomeration Community, in charge of Tourist Attractiveness and the Blue Economy.

  • Since 2010He is a member of the Regional Council of Aquitaine and New Aquitaine and, as such, a member of the Assembly of the Aquitaine-Euskadi Euro-Region. (Re-elected in 2015)
