A physical-chemical engineer with a degree from ESPCI-Paristech and a doctorate in neuroscience from UPMC, Kalina first promoted biomimicry for responsible innovation at the Paris Région Entreprises agency, where she developed tools to help eco-design through biomimicry.

She has been contributing to the development of the Ceebios association since 2013 and became its general manager in early 2017. She is also the "biomimicry" editorial advisor for the journal Techniques de l'Ingénieur and follows the ISO standardisation work on biomimicry. She participated in the "Nature-based solutions" expert group at the European Commission. Her ambition is to position France as a pioneer in the development of biomimicry as a tool for ecological transition, reconciling biodiversity, innovation and economy.
