St\u00e9phane Viollet, Director of Research at the CNRS, 47 years old, is head of the Biorobotics team and Deputy Director of the Institute of Movement Sciences in Marseille (CNRS\/Aix-Marseille University).<\/p>\n

His scientific interests include the study of sensory-motor reflexes in flies, bio-inspired optical sensors and insect-inspired robot control strategies. He participated in the development of the first artificial compound eye inspired by the Drosophila eye (European CurvACE project).<\/p>\n

He is the author of more than 60 publications, 8 patents and was co-winner of the La Recherche journal prize in 2005.<\/p>\n
