Biomim'expo: exhibition of candidate files and final
Biomim'Challenge is THE competition for bio-inspired projects, presented during the Biomim'expo, pitched LIVE in the final, and supported by the community of experts.
The competition at the heart of the expert ecosystem of biomimicry, not only to submit your ideas and projects, but also to benefit from the Biomim'expo event, the expertise and network knowledge of NewCorp Conseil and the College of Partners.
This form allows you to register and reserve your place by giving us some information about your profile and your project. Of course, nothing is definitive at this stage.
This form allows you to submit your project documents so that we can process your application.
Benefits / new features 2022 :
- 3000 euros in prizes for the winners
- The competition is open to students, entrepreneurs, researchers and project leaders
- Free entrance to Biomim'expo for participants
- Exhibition space at Biomim'expo for all participants (winners or not)
- "Biomim'Challenge Next Steps": take advantage of Biomim'expo to meet professionals and get coaching.
- Access to NewCorp Conseil / Ceebios networks and events.
- BONUS: The best projects with an entrepreneurial approach could also be included in the selection and support process Biomim'Invest.
Main theme :
Living on Earth - biomimicry for life.
Design, Architecture, Materials, Agriculture, Chemistry, Energy, Water, Health, Information, City, Commerce, Management, Politics, Economy ... everything is to be reinvented, let nature inspire you.
Who can participate? 2 main categories:
Students trained or made aware of biomimicry, either through a module delivered as part of their course, or through their own research or the use of content or training available online.
Bac+2 / Bac+3 / Master 1 / Master 2 and >.
Accompanied by a teacher, tutor-referent for the competition.
Researchers or teachers in search of development and industrial and financial partners.
Companies that have already been in existence for less than 2 years and wish to take a new step.
Project leaders in the conceptualisation or business creation phase.
Of course, finalists, winners or participants in other biomimicry competitions can apply for the Biomim'Challenge and participate in Biomim'expo.
Bio-inspiration can be about forms as well as metabolisms, ecosystems, etc., but it cannot be limited to metaphorical inspiration, it must be explicit and integral to the project, which must not be limited to a technical description but must explicitly demonstrate the benefit in terms of resilience or sustainability.
All participating teams can exhibit their projects at Biomim'expo, but only the finalists pitch live!
The only restriction to avoid mixing the genres too much: in order to remain on projects in the launch phase, you are not eligible for the Biomim'Challenge if you have already raised funds or obtained subsidies. In such a case, you are in fact already launched and more concerned by the Biomim'Invest programme.
For student teams, the project may be carried out by one or more students, but accompanied by a teacher who must be mentioned in the application file. This teacher does not have to be an "expert" in biomimicry, but the competition organisers would like the teaching staff to be associated, informed and ideally involved in the students' participation.
For researchers or teachers, each can submit a project on behalf of their institution or in their own name. The project may be submitted by an individual or a team.
You will be considered a "creator-entrepreneur" if the legal structure is effective, otherwise you will be a "project holder". Either way, you can participate.
As a reminder, team presentation is recommended and desirable, as this is the state of mind sought by the organisers, in line with the philosophy of a collegial and multidisciplinary search for solutions.
Timelines, materials and selection process :
Minimum support: a file of max 20 pages/20 slides ... i.e. in slideshow ppt, keynote or pdf format so that it can be easily projected on a computer, tablet, screen ... you can show it more easily and this forces you to script your demonstration a little. The file can be written in French or English.
This is the "basic" support, which can be completed by a more written document, with separate images (5 maximum), a video (3' maximum), a poster, a model, a prototype ... up to you.
Projects are evaluated on 6 criteria:
- #1 innovation/originality
- #2 credibility/feasibility
- #3 environmental and social impact/sustainability
- #4 market/economic potential
- #5 team/presentation
- #6 multidisciplinarity/openness
